Biocatalysis Intern

The main activities and responsibilities

• Biocatalysis Activities
  • Basic enzymatic assays (activity, stability, comparison under different conditions).
  • Preparation of buffers, solutions, reaction mixtures, and experimental controls.
  • Comparison of enzyme variants, supports, or simple conditions.
• Analysis and Documentation
  • Accurate and well-organized recording of experimental data.
  • Identification of basic trends in activity and stability.
  • Preparation of summaries, results, and conclusions in a clear, project-oriented format.
• Enzyme Immobilization
  • Introduction to immobilization concepts (adsorption, entrapment, polymeric carriers).
  • Preparation and initial characterization of immobilized biocatalysts.
  • Preliminary evaluation of reusability and stability.
• General Laboratory Support
  • Safe handling of reagents, equipment, and laboratory materials.
  • Interaction with biocatalysis, chemistry, analytics, and MS&T scientists according to project needs.

Requirements

The Ideal Candidate

• Knowledge of biochemistry and enzymology.
• Solid foundation in organic chemistry and reactivity.
• Basic laboratory skills.
• Ability to analyze simple results and work in an organized manner.
• Motivation to learn about biocatalysis applied to industrial processes.
